Converging Knowledge for a Sustainable Future: Leading Transformative Change through Interdisciplinary Innovation

1. Background

The Djuanda International Conference is an annual seminar series organized by Djuanda University, Bogor, that promotes the integration of academic and professional research within the framework of Tawheed (monotheism) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each year, the conference serves as a platform to discuss pressing global and national issues, fostering dialogue, collaboration, and innovative solutions among scholars, practitioners, and policymakers.

Building upon this foundation, The 9th Djuanda International Conference on Applied Sciences (DICAS) and the 9th Djuanda International Conference on Social Sciences(DICSS) continue this annual tradition by emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and research synergy across various fields. The conferences reflect Djuanda University’s commitment to advancing knowledge that is not only scientifically rigorous but also ethically grounded in the principles of Tawheed recognizing the unity of knowledge, humanity, and sustainability.

In its 9th edition,the conference adopts the theme:

"Converging Knowledge for a Sustainable Future: Leading Transformative Change through Interdisciplinary Innovation."

This theme reflects the urgent need to integrate diverse fields of knowledge—from digital technologies and biosciences to social entrepreneurship and ethical governance—to drive sustainable and transformative change. The conference will explore how interdisciplinary approaches can accelerateprogress toward the SDGs, particularly in the face of complex global issues such as climate change, food insecurity, and social inequality.


2.Objectives

The primary objectives of the 9th DICAS and 9thDICSS are to:

  1. Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and civil society to address sustainability challenges through innovative and integrated solutions.
  2. Promote the exchange of knowledge and best practicesin areas such as green technology, bioscience, social entrepreneurship, global citizenship education, and AI-driven sustainability.
  3. Encourage the implementation of ethical and inclusive models of governance, education, and economic development that align with both global standards and local wisdom.
  4. Strengthen global partnerships in line with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) to support the scaling of sustainable innovations.
  5. Empower early-career researchers and students by providing a platform to present their work, network with experts, and contribute to actionable solutions.


3. Scope of The Conference

The conference will be structured aroundthe following sub-themes:


A. Applied Sciences Track

1.Digital Transformation and Green Technologies for Sustainable Societies (Topics: Renewable energy, smart cities,IoT, green AI, sustainable manufacturing)

2.Bioscience Innovations for Food Securityand Climate Resilience(Topics: Climate-smart agriculture, biotechnology, sustainable food systems, biodiversity conservation)

3.AI and Data Sciencefor Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (Topics: Predictive analytics, machine learningfor sustainability, data-driven policy process)


B. Social SciencesTrack

1.Social Entrepreneurship, Ethical and Innovative Governance, and Inclusive Economic Models (Topics: Ethical leadership, circular economy, community-based enterprises, public- private partnerships, SDG-aligned corporate governance, public policy and governance frameworks for social enterprises, regulatory incentives for green economy)

2.Global Citizenship Educational and Public Communication: Bridging Local Wisdom and International Challenges (Topics: Cultural sustainability, education for sustainable development, public communication, indigenous knowledge systems,legal education for sustainability, human rights and environmental law, policy frameworks for educational equity)

3.Law and Public Policy, Sustainable Development Governance: Legal Frameworks for Achieving the SDGs (Topics: Environmental law and climate justice, SDG implementation and national legislation, international law and sustainable development, human rights-based approaches to sustainability, legal instruments for poverty eradication (SDG 1) and gender equality (SDG 5), anti-corruption law and strong institutions (SDG 16))
